The project
- Located above Fort Augustus and Invergarry
- An additional up to eight turbines to the east of the existing wind farm
- Will include associated infrastructure – internal access road, on-site substation, borrow pit
- A battery storage system will store energy produced so the wind farm provides electricity to the National Grid even when the wind is not blowing
- Will provide £5,000/MW additional funding to the existing local community benefit funds
- Extensive environmental and ornithology surveys underway
- Public exhibitions will take place to allow us to share the plans with local communities and gather their feedback
- As the combined installed capacity of the wind farm will be over 50 MW our planning application will be made under Section 36 of the Electricity Act (1996) and will be determined by Scottish Government Ministers.
